There was a great morning of gaelic football action in Wallslough Indoor Arena On St. Patrick’s bank holiday Monday for the U10 girls in Kilkenny. This all county blitz kicked off the season perfectly for the clubs involved. The venue was ideal for the 9 and 10 years olds from Dunnamaggin, Clara, Muckalee, Railyard and Erins Own. Nearly 80 girls took part on the 3 pitches with the emphasis on skill development, overseen by Go Games referees and County Development Officer, Brendan Healy. The small sided matches focused on passing, soloing and kicking with both feet, and all was played in a very sporting atmosphere. It was a great start to the year for this bunch.

Then in early April Dunnamaggin Lgfc hosted the first club U10s blitz of the season which was a huge success with just over 100 girls taking part. The 8 teams all enjoyed 5 go games each and with no scorekeeping by referees the emphasis of the day was purely on the girls having fun while developing their football skills. A huge thank you to Glanbia and Dunnes stores who provided nutritional options for the girls to enjoy in the post-match players’ area! In late April Clara LGFC were next up to host and again this age group turned out in force and enjoyed many games of fun football and friendship making. A shout out to Lidl for yet again showing their #SeriousSupport and providing rolls, drinks and jellies for all the players to enjoy after the ‘just for fun’ games. The pictures of all these blitzes can be seen on our Facebook page @Kilkennylgfa and they clearly capture the fun spirit of these days which is very evident in the smiles all round all day long.
