The LGFA’s new National Strategic Plan sees Kilkenny targeted as one of the first counties of focus for 2020. Experienced personnel, from Croke Park, will be at the disposal of the county for extra support and development in a variety of areas such as Coach and Player Development, County Structure and Administration, Finance and Fundraising and Communications and Promotions.
Huge strives in participation and development have already been made in Kilkenny Ladies Football with the number of registrations doubling in recent years. According to the Leinster GDO, Suzi Doyle, ‘It’s an exciting time to be involved in ladies’ sport in the country and in Ladies Football in Kilkenny.’
Kilkenny have a positive and proactive county board who are passionate about spreading the big ball gospel in the small ball county. Chairman of the county board, Séan Ó hArgáin, explains ‘This is an exciting opportunity, for us as a board, to work and learn from the top and to further drive on Ladies Football in Kilkenny.’
The level of engagement Kilkenny will have with Croke Park will ensure increased communication and contact with clubs and county executives while also ensuring Kilkenny has a basic 3 year plan, tailored to the needs of Ladies Football in the county, at the end of the process.
The first step in this progressive process is to hear the opinions and ideas for the development of Ladies Football in Kilkenny. A Club Forum event takes place next Saturday 18th January in the Hoban Hotel. A discussion on the development of the sport will take place from 5-6.30pm in the cabinet room. Afterwards all *attendees are invited to a complimentary hot finger food reception in a private, reserved area of the hotel bar. This is an open event for parents, players past and present, mentors, club execs, teachers who take teams, referees and absolutely anyone who has an interest in the sport. To learn more about this event, and Croke Park’s National Plan, tune into KCLR at 4.30pm Sunday 12th January.
